Star ratings explained

The Energy Rating Label is regulated by government and has been in use for over 30 years. The stars allow you to measure the energy efficiency and running costs of appliances before you buy, helping you to reduce your electricity bill.

The star ratings represent how efficient a model is when compared to ones of a similar size and make. The star rating will also assist you when assessing how much energy your appliance is actually using.

More stars indicate a more efficient model. While the majority of products are given between 1 and 6 stars, you may find some models with up to 10 stars. This is because technology keeps improving along with energy efficiency.
